Liposuction

Liposuction is a surgical method that is applied for patients who do not have obesity problems and want to eliminate excess fatty tissue and give the body a better figure shape. Liposuction operation reshapes certain body parts by removing excess fat deposits in your body and improving your body contours. Liposuction is a body shaping procedure that aims to remove excess fat. The most used areas are the stomach, buttocks and the inside or outside of the thighs. However, liposuction is usually performed on other areas such as the knees, arms, and neck.

Liposuction

Contrary to popular belief, liposuction is not a weight loss operation. The purpose of liposuction operation is to get rid of permanent fat for regional slimming and body shaping. To do liposuction, first of all, patients must be clearly informed before but also after the operation. In this way, the patient will have more realistic expectations and will be better informed of the processes that will have been determined by the doctor after the liposuction surgery.

Who can qualify for liposuction?

It is important that patients considering liposuction surgery undergo a complete health examination before surgery, as with any cosmetic operation. Pregnant or breastfeeding women cannot undergo liposuction. It is also important to consider the age and structure of the skin in advance. Since skin elasticity decreases with age and aging skin may not achieve as effective results as younger skin, additional cosmetic procedures such as skin tightening may be required after liposuction. Your doctor will decide on these requests after the examination.

Liposuction can improve your appearance, but it cannot alter your body contours to achieve your body goal. The best candidates are healthy people who are not overweight and have localized areas of excess fat without sagging skin.

This last point is very important because it has a limited ability to shrink to adapt to the new contour after skin absorption. Therefore, patients with excess skin may look worse after liposuction, which may require skin removal.

For example, women with more than one child often have loose abdominal skin (a sign that the skin will not shrink after liposuction) and are therefore usually better candidates for abdominoplasty.

Elimination of excess fat

Plastic surgery performs back and forth movements with the cannula to separate the subcutaneous fat. He removes the fat using an injection or vacuum pump connected to the cannula.
